There’s a moment many people recognise, even if they don’t have a name for it.
It's often quiet, sometimes sudden —
When the story so far stops making sense, but the next one hasn’t yet begun.
Maybe it looks like circling a decision you can’t quite name.
Or losing something you thought would last.
Or suddenly seeing a life you used to believe in — from the outside.
Not everyone calls it a threshold.
You might call it a tangle. A portal. A pause.
But many recognise the feeling:
You’ve outgrown something.
You’re reckoning with a change that has already happened.
There's a sense that something’s shifting — but you’re not sure what, or how, or who you’ll be on the other side.
Some thresholds are chosen.
Some arrive uninvited.
Some only make sense in hindsight.
But they all ask the same thing:
to cross over.
Groksmithing is a way of moving through these moments with care and company.
It’s a grounded, relational way of working with what’s stirring beneath the surface — when you feel unsure, tangled, or in transition.
Groksmithing sits near coaching, consulting, and therapy — but isn’t quite any of them.
It borrows what’s useful, leaves behind what isn’t, and insists on being human above all.
It’s a practice of co-navigation:
of making space for transformation as it unfolds in real time.
Groksmithing might be the right fit when...
- You’re in transition, and want to move forward without leaving parts of yourself behind
- You’re circling an idea, project, or dream and can’t get traction
- You’re in the aftermath of something ending and don’t know what’s next
- You’ve outgrown your current context but haven’t found your next one
- You’re capable and competent — but not quite sure how to approach this
- Something wants to shift, but it doesn’t yet have shape or name
If you’re standing at one of life’s thresholds, you’re not alone.
Here’s a guide to recognising the kinds of thresholds people tend to encounter.

🌀 How it works
A conversation to get our bearings — and to test the fit.
No pitch. No pressure. Just a chance to name what’s present and whether this is the right container for it.
Out of this, a Threshold Agreement will follow — a light-touch reflection that captures where you are, what matters now, and what direction you’re choosing to face. It names the nature of the work without pretending to predict the outcome.
🧭 Wayfinding Session (90 mins)
The first session is where the work begins. We’ll explore your terrain, map your knowns and unknowns, bring the blurry thing into focus, and identify the shape of support that fits your reality.
🌿 Ongoing Sessions (in blocks of 3 or 6 – 90 mins each)
Use them as needed. Go deep when it’s time, pause when it isn’t. Your groksmith holds the continuity so you don’t have to carry it all.
📦 Choose Your Container
💬 What people often walk away with
- Language for something they couldn’t name before
- A clearer sense of direction and why it matters
- Tangible steps that honour both urgency and pace
- A felt shift — not just in what to do, but in how to be with it
- A quiet sense of “I know what to do next” — even if the path stays wild
🌌 Why Groksmithing Exists
There aren’t many places to bring the blurry, the uncertain, the unformed.
Groksmithing exists to offer that place — and that person — where the in-between is given room to breathe.
A groksmith brings context, containment, and the capacity to walk with complexity. They help trace the thread, reflect what matters, and hold shape while you re-find yours.
It’s a way of making sense alongside someone who listens with care, thinks in patterns, and responds in kind.
It’s a conversation that doesn’t presume to know better, but trusts what can emerge and helps something real and necessary take form in its own time — and with good company.

Meet Your Groksmith

Danu Poyner
Grokkist Founder
Auckland, New Zealand and Copenhagen, Denmark.
Danu is the kind of person people turn to when something in their life is beginning to shift—and the old maps no longer apply.
His work is grounded in more than 15 years across education, policy, and tech — but has always lived between the lines. He brings a deep integrative way of seeing, shaped by a quietly radical commitment to curiosity, care, and ethical imagination.
He founded Grokkist to build an ecosystem for those who don’t fit in boxes — and don’t want to. Now, through Groksmithing, he offers something most people never realise they needed: a companion for the part of the journey where your old identity no longer fits, but your new one hasn’t yet arrived.
He’s a fierce listener, a subtle mirror, and a patient holder of complexity — helping you make sense of who you’re becoming and how to move forward without flattening yourself or leaving cherished parts behind.
Danu builds spaces for others to flourish — through deep attention, spacious insight, and the courage to stay with what matters.
Expect laughter, gentleness, insight, and the quiet relief of feeling your possibility space expand.
We’re currently developing a pilot of the first cohort of our Licensed Groksmiths program, set to launch later in 2025 — a way to support others in developing this craft, and to grow the practice responsibly, without losing what makes it special.
If that piques your interest, stay tuned — or get in touch for a conversation about what might be emerging.
For now, all Groksmithing sessions are with Danu directly.
