Make sense of yourself and your story
Find Your Red Thread is about helping you make sense of yourself.
Sometimes, life feels scattered—like the pieces of your story are out there, but they don’t quite add up.
Maybe you’ve been chasing the next goal, trying to live up to an idea of success that isn’t yours, and now you’re wondering what it was all for. It feels like burnout, but it’s something deeper: a longing to realign with what brings you alive and makes you feel whole.
This is a space to sit with those pieces—not to fix them, but to look at them honestly and see the patterns, the connections, the story they’re trying to tell.
This is a space to sit with those pieces—not to fix them, but to look at them honestly and see the patterns, the connections, the story they’re trying to tell.
It’s not about fixing yourself or finding quick answers. It’s about sitting with the beauty and mess of your life, gently unraveling the threads of your experiences, and seeing how they weave together into something whole.
You’ll explore the doubts and contradictions you’ve been carrying—not to resolve them, but to understand how they belong.
It’s not therapy, but it is deeply therapeutic.
You’ll explore the parts of yourself you’ve hidden or dismissed, not with judgment but with curiosity. And in that process, something shifts. In this safe, reflective space, you’ll start to see yourself clearly—maybe for the first time. It’s like holding up a mirror and saying, “Oh, there I am.”
This work is more than self-awareness—it’s about making your internal world legible, not only to yourself but in a way that connects you to others.
That’s where it gets exciting: it’s not just self-reflection for its own sake.
It’s about stepping out of the isolating fog of “Who am I?” and finding a coherent place to stand, a thread to pull that makes the next step obvious—or at least possible.
It’s about stepping out of the isolating fog of “Who am I?” and finding a coherent place to stand, a thread to pull that makes the next step obvious—or at least possible.
As this clarity takes shape, it naturally ripples outward. It changes how you see yourself, but also how you show up in the world—how you connect with others, locate yourself within traditions of meaning and belonging, and begin to act with a renewed sense of purpose.
It’s a shift that doesn’t just stay within; it stretches into the larger story of who you’re becoming and the impact you want to have.
The threads of the journey
Coherence: Weaving together your experiences, values, and practices into a cohesive whole.
Legibility: Naming and claiming the expertise you didn’t even realise you had, making it tangible.
Locating: Moving from self to society, stepping out of isolation and into a meaningful role in the world.
What makes it magical is that you’re not doing this in isolation. You’re in a rare, nurturing space where people genuinely care about your story—not just in a surface way but with the kind of curiosity and generosity that helps you see it more clearly yourself.
It’s like you’re experimenting with how to be seen, and in doing that, you figure out how to show up in the world in a way that feels authentic and grounded.
It’s about finding the confidence to move forward, even if you don’t know exactly where you’re headed.
At the end, it’s not about having everything figured out—it’s about having a dynamic, evolving story with a thread that connects who you’ve been, who you are, and who you’re becoming. It’s about finding the confidence to move forward, even if you don’t know exactly where you’re headed.
If that resonates, it might be for you.
What you’ll leave with
By the end of the five weeks, you won’t have everything figured out. That’s not the point. What you’ll have is:
- A story that feels alive and whole, one you can grow with.
- The confidence to move forward, even in uncertainty.
- A sense of where you fit in the world and the clarity to step into your power.
This isn’t self-help. It’s self-revolution.

In the first four weeks, we’ll explore new concepts and ideas to help you weave your red thread. The final week is all about sharing your personal red thread project and reflecting together as a group.
- Talk Sessions: These focus on exploration and discovery. I’ll introduce new ideas and frameworks to help you reflect on your story, sparking insights and new ways of thinking.
- Practice Sessions: These are hands-on and interactive, giving you the chance to experiment with telling your story, exploring perspectives, and integrating what you’ve learned in a supportive environment.
Each live session runs for approximately 90–120 minutes.
All sessions are recorded, so you’re free to revisit them anytime. Plus, your enrolment automatically rolls over into the next cohort. You can catch a future session or even repeat a workshop to deepen your learning.

Meet your guide
Hi, I’m Danu Poyner.
I created Find Your Red Thread because I know what it’s like to feel scattered, stuck, or like your story doesn’t add up.
My own path has been anything but linear—dropping out of high school (twice), running a design business that went bankrupt at 24, and navigating burnout, bore-out, and boot-out across multiple careers.
For most of my life, I’ve felt like a multidimensional misfit—moving through roles in retail, teaching, research, government, tech support, publishing, policy, software sales, academic leadership, and more. Each step taught me something about who I am, but for a long time, it didn’t feel cohesive.
Through all of that, I kept coming back to the same questions:
- What connects all of this?
- What do I care about most?
- How do I make sense of myself in a way that feels true?
At the same time, I was grappling with the more urgent, less poetic ones:
- Why do I feel like I’m spinning my wheels?
- How am I supposed to make a living at this?
- Am I just professionally unemployable?
It felt like the stakes couldn’t be higher—trying to make sense of myself while keeping my head above water in a world that often felt like it didn’t have room for someone like me.
It felt like the stakes couldn’t be higher—trying to make sense of myself while keeping my head above water in a world that often felt like it didn’t have room for someone like me.
But over time, through curiosity and care, I began to see the patterns in my own story—the threads that connected everything I’d done. I realized that meaning isn’t something you find; it’s something you make, piece by piece, through reflection, experimentation, and connection.
Those questions, and the answers I found along the way, led me to create Grokkist—a community and a philosophy built around curiosity, care, and helping people flourish by weaving the patterns of their lives into something whole.
This course is deeply connected to that journey. It’s about helping you discover the connections in your own story, integrate the parts of yourself that don’t seem to fit, and step into the world with confidence and purpose.
As your guide, I’m here to hold the space for you to explore your story with curiosity and care.
This isn’t about performing or getting it right—it’s about discovering what’s already there, unforgetting the wisdom you’ve been carrying all along, and finding the courage to live it fully.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to show up.

What others are saying
What I Learned Still Guides Me Every Day

Danu’s course gave me nuggets of wisdom I still carry with me every day. It helped me make sense of my story and step into a new chapter with clarity and confidence. At age 50, I’m in grad school to become a licensed therapist using art as a therapeutic modality—something I owe, in part, to Danu’s guidance as a threshold guardian.
Even now, through all the transitions and soul-seeking—teaching art to teens in recovery and finding new ways to live on my growth edge—I keep coming back to what I learned in the course. Protecting my red thread has been my main goal, and it’s made all the difference.
"A Life-Changing Experience, Full Stop."

I’m not someone who looks back much, but this course has had me unforgetting, rediscovering what’s already within me, and researching to verify. I even found a 7-hour YouTube video on the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival, Woodstock’s prequel. 15-year-old me will be dancing the rest of the day! ✌️
Making the Complex Manageable and Enjoyable

Thank you, Danu, for putting this monster together and making it such a great experience. Your ability to make the complex manageable and enjoyable never ceases to amaze me.
Being part of the Red Thread cohort was incredible. It was wonderful how we ended up as a really tight group, and it was a pleasure to share the experience. Being a grokkist feels like keeping plates spinning - some steady, some wobbly, and always with the urge to add more. Things don't always go perfectly, but that’s very much part of the process.
